The General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Felix Meduoye, has described as most worrisome the spate of kidnapping of school children in recent times and called for more security measures to protect children from such crime.

Meduoye, who spoke at a press briefing ahead of this year’s 61st annual national convention of the church, with the theme, ‘Kingdom Life,’ at Foursquare Camp, near Ajebo in Ogun State, said the security situation in the country has become a major concern, adding that kidnapping of school children should be condemned in its entirety and government should do everything to nip the issue in the bud.

The cleric, who announced that the convention would take place at the Camp Ground in Ajebo, along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway between November 14 and 20.

Meduoye also called on government to check the menace of herdsmen.

“The clashes between herdsmen and host communities have created unnecessary tension and killings across the country,” he said, adding:

“We urge decisive actions from all stakeholders, so that we can continue to live in an atmosphere of peace and friendliness as citizens of this great country.”
