Modupe Ozolua puts smiles on faces of the less-privileged in Nigeria, D. R. Congo

After more than a decade of championing the cause of the needy, Nigerian -American philanthropist and entrepreneur, Princess Modupe Ozolua, has continued to give hope to the hopeless.

Ozolua recently completed the first phase of her medical outreach by providing free medication to children and pregnant women in Edo State, as well as 18 cities in the Central African country, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Through her non-governmental organisation (NGO), Empower 54, Princess Ozolua distributed free medication in Edo State.

Over 15,000 women and children benefited from this outreach in Owan West, Owan East, Etsako West and Akoko-Edo local councils.

Also, Empower 54, broke new grounds by being the first Nigerian NGO to offer humanitarian aid in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ozolua kicked off the distribution of drugs for 620,000 children in Province du-Mai-Ndombe.

She travelled by boat for over 23 hours to Inongo, Kutu, Bokoro, Nioki, Mushie, Kwamouth, Bolobo, and Mongana for the programme.

She was also hosted at the Nigerian Embassy in Kinshasa by the Nigerian Ambassador, O. O. Orevaba to announce her humanitarian activities in the DRC.

Ozolua, who fearlessly ventured into high-risk areas to provide relief, has received numerous national and international awards in recognition of her dedication to improving the lives of impoverished women and children across Africa, including recognition as one of the women shaping Africa by Elle Magazine and an official proclamation in recognition of her humanitarian work from the Atlanta City Council, Georgia.

Ozolua is active in rehabilitating women and children survivors of the terrorist group, Boko Haram in Nigeria, through self-employment and education for the children at the IDPs camps.

In 2003, she founded Empower 54, formerly known as Body Enhancement Foundation (BEARS, Body Enhancement yearly Reconstructive Surgery) an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to providing desperately needed humanitarian assistance such as medical missions, hunger eradication, educational, women/girl empowerment and refugee programs to underprivileged Africans.

Despite running several businesses, Ozolua prioritises her businesses and contributes significant personal funds towards each programme.
