‘My wife’s death drove me into sodomy’

One Patrick Kalu, an indigene of Abia State has been arrested by the police in Niger State for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old boy.Answering questions from journalists at the headquarters of the state police command in Minna at the weekend, Kalu said he was pushed into the act when he lost his wife.

The suspect, who claimed to have come to Minna in search of work, said he could not raise money to marry another wife or to approach  a prostitute to satisfy his sexual urge.

According to him, he brought the boy to Minna for the same purpose of looking for job for him, “and fortunately, I got a job for him in a hotel as a cleaner”

He said he got a place at Railway Quarters in Minna where he usually slept with the boy. “I know it is a shameful thing. I’m really ashamed of myself. Please, help me beg the police to release me and I will never do it again.

“It was my first time of doing this kind of thing and it is because my wife died. I had sex with him only twice before I was caught. Honestly, I will not do it again”

Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Superintendent Abigail Unaeze, who paraded the suspect and 13 others in Minna, said Kalu allegedly lured a 15 –year- old boy to Minna with the prospect of getting him a job, only to turn him into a sex machine, having sex with him through the anus.

No fewer than 13 other suspects were paraded by the police for various offences, ranging from armed robbery to culpable homicide.Unaeze disclosed that the suspects had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court at the completion of investigation.
