Mysterious ‘healing cross’ appears in Nasarawa

What may be, indeed, a cross with healing powers mysteriously appeared on Wednesday in Assakio, a community in Lafia Local Council of Nasarawa State.
Already, the site has become a pilgrimage centre of sorts, playing host to people from all parts of the state.

According to reports, it began on Wednesday, September 28, when a 15-year-old-girl, Hajara Hussaini, first sighted the cross around 8.00p.m.Hajara, who spoke with newsmen, said she was sent on an errand that night and while on her way back, she saw a strange light. She said she was gripped by fear and rushed back home to alert her mother, Matan Liman.

Confirming the incident further, Matan Liman said she had sent her daughter to visit her grandmother.She explained that the girl rushed home and said she saw a light and the crucifix suddenly appeared close to a mosque.

The Chief Imam of Assakio Central Mosque, Muhammed Iliyasu, who confirmed the incident, told our correspondent that the appearance of the crosson the premises of the mosque was a revelation from God, affirming that “Jesus is also a prophet of God.”

Also confirming the incident, Very Rev. Michael Dogo of the Evangelical Reform Church of Christ, Assakio, described the appearance of the cross as a sign of reconciliation in the community.

A native of Enugu State, Grace Eze, who lives in Ashige area of the community, claimed she got healed after visiting the scene of the cross.She said: “I underwent a surgery about two years ago after which I started to experience a movement in my body. But after praying before the cross, I got healed.”

A resident, Jonathan Amegwa, said he was overwhelmed by the appearance of the cross and claimed that many people had miraculously received healings while praying at the scene.
