NANS seeks crack team to revive economy
•Lauds Avengers for truce move
•Seeks credible polls in Edo, Ondo
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the Federal Government to raise a formidable team that could come up with sustainable solutions to the nation’s current economic quagmire.
While commending the anti-corruption fight of the government, NANS wants the proposed team to design a new face of social economic prosperity that would improve the living standard of the people.
It also lauded the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) for agreeing to cease fire, saying the move represents the best alternative towards achieving an economically viable, peaceful and prosperous region and indeed a nation suitable for investment and bilateral ties.
In a communication by chairman and secretary, communiqué drafting committee, Ali Abdullahi Lamma and Armstrong Ovie-Afabor, at the end of its 28th convention in Abuja, the students’ body also charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free, fair and credible governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states on September 10 and November 26, 2016.
NANS equally sought affirmative action on 26 per cent budgetary allocation to education as recommended by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for developing countries to catalyse intellectual sagacity and advancement.
