NDDC senate committee flays FG over N1tr unpaid debt
The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Peter Nwaoboshi, has flayed the Federal Government over an alleged N1 trillion debt the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) owes contractors.
Nwaoboshi, the Senate Committee Chairman on NDDC, in Asaba, yesterday, said: “The NDDC does not know the annual budget of the oil companies. So, when we came on, we invited all the oil companies and we read the law to them.”
He said the bill that amended the law establishing NDDC, which he sponsored and which was subsequently signed in 2017 by President Buhari, would address “areas” which had denied the NDDC adequate funding.
He claimed the Federal Government had not shown concern on major issues unsettling the commission. While calling on the people of the Niger Delta region to support the development drive being attracted to the region.
