NEMA tells Kogi communities to evacuate over flood alert
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have raised alarm over impending flood in Sarkin Noma, Ganaja in Lokoja Council and Igala Mela Council of Kogi State, among others.
A statement by its spokesperson, Sani Datti, advised residents of communities around the flood plains to immediately relocate to higher grounds for safety to avoid the danger of the eminent flood.
He said following the alert, the agency has established contact with the state commissioner for Environment, State Emergency Management Agency and other relevant stakeholders. He said a NEMA team would soon visit the affected persons and communities for appropriate action.
