Sultan urges unity to tackle nation’s problems

SULTAN of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111, has again spoken of the need for Nigerians to stick together even after the elections and tackle the problems confronting the nation.

The Sultan, who spoke when the former military head of state and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), paid him a courtesy call during his campaign visit to the state, said that we cannot sit down and continue to bemoan our fate because God had endowed us with the necessary human and material to make our nation great.

He recalled how Nigerians came together and defeated Ebola Virus Disease to the admiration of the whole world, adding that the feat could be repeated in other areas.

He stated that politicians were playing god but urged them not to anything to jeopardise the security of the nation because there must be a country before there can be leaders.

The monarch said that nobody loved Nigeria more than traditional rulers whom, according to him, were in the best position to give honest advice without being partial.

The royal father asserted that before Nigeria came into existence in 1914, the traditional rulers were operating systems that were working perfectly because there was justice, fairness, transparency and equity.

While praying to God to give Nigeria a God-fearing leader irrespective of religious inclination, the sultan said that Nigerians were yearning for a return of the days when people can go about their daily routines without molestation and any form of insecurity.

Speaking earlier, the APC Presidential flag bearer said that if voted into power his focus would be to tackle Nigeria’s security problems, revive the economy and confront the corruption scourge.

He said that unemployment would be addressed promptly because there were currently 60 million unemployed youths, which posed extreme danger to the nation.
