Nigerian Air Force, Navy promote senior officers

The Air Council of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) yesterday approved the promotion of 50 senior officers, comprising 22 air commodores and 28 group captains.
A statement by Wing Commander Bassey Okon for Director of Public Relations and Information yesterday said those promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal include the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters NAF, Olatokunbo Adesanya; Principal Director, Air Force Research and Development Center, Kaduna and Paul Jemitola; Senior Air Staff Officer, Tactical Air Command, Makurdi.

Also elevated are Charles Ohwo, Director of Procurement; Mohammed Yakubu, Commander 631 Aircraft Maintenance Depot, Lagos; Emmanuel Wonah, Director of Material and Systems Management; Frank Oparah, Director of Civil Military Relations and Ubrufih Uzezi, Director of Air Engineering.

Others are Hyacinth Eze, Commander 455 Base Services Group, Kano; Abubakar Liman, Air Component Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole; Idi Lubo, Commander 151 Base Services Group, Makurdi, Samuel Babalola and Director of Administration, Nelson Calmday.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Navy has approved the promotion of 78 senior officers to different cadres.A statement by the Acting Director of Information, Naval Headquarters, Navy Captain Suleman Dahun, said the Navy Board approved the promotion of 78 senior officers. 

A breakdown of the promotions showed that 18 Commodores were promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, 40 captains were promoted to the flag rank of Commodore and 20 Commanders were promoted to the rank of Captain.

Those promoted rear admirals are commodores Michael Ebe, Director of Administration, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna, David Adeniran, Commodore Naval Drafting, Uchenna Onyia, Chief Staff Officer, Logistics Command Oghara, Delta State, Ahamefule Eluwa, Moderator at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos and Dolapo Kolawole, Commander NNS LUGARD, Lokoja, Kogi State, among others.The statement, however, did not state when the promotion would take effect.
