The Depot Commandant of the Nigeria Army, Zaria, Brig-Gen. Victor Ezugwu, has disclosed that the military is the highest employer of labour. He made the disclosure when members of the Kaduna State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Ezugwu explained that the depot is currently training over 6,000 recruits, and commended the army for its employment generation.According to him, no other institution in the country employs as many as 6,000 applicants and train them for employment.

While commending the leadership of NAWOJ in the state, he said it was the first time that a woman-based association would visit the army depot since he assumed office six months ago.

“I am glad that Nawoj has noted the activities of Depot NA. This is the engine house, the major factory, where we produce the fighting machines of the nation,” he said.

The chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs. Juliet Oyoyo, said her association was highly impressed with the officers and men of the army, who have placed their lives on the line for Nigerians as a sacrifice for the collective peace, safety, unity and integrity of the country.
