Active Projectile Limited, an anti-bullying prevention organization, is set to mark this years’ Lefthanders Day by bringing all Nigerian lefthanders together for the first time, joining the rest of the world to celebrate their uniqueness.

August 13 is set aside as the International Left-Handers Day by Lefthanders International.

Head of CSR at Active Projectile and an ambidextrous person herself, Adesola Oyinloye-Ndu, says she was born left handed but forced to use her right hand to write due to cultural pressure.

She is now championing this cause and told The Guardian that she has several events lined up to celebrate the day at the National Theatre, Lagos and Media Hall of fame, Abuja Stadium. The theme for the event is The World of a Lefty.

Events lined up for the day in both cities are open to the public who will be treated to an eye-opening seminar on ‘Living a Normal Life as a left Hander’; picnic, display of everyday tools such as scissors, can openers, rulers, knives and so on, specially designed for Lefthanders.

There will also be an award/ gala night by 6pm at the National Theatre, Lagos to honour some notable and nominated Lefthanders who have waded through the challenges of the cultural and societal bias.
