OGFZA comes tops in government’s report on executive order

The Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) has come first in Federal Government’s report on Ease of Doing Business Executive Order (EO1), as one of the most innovative strategic initiatives to deliver quick and pragmatic changes for Nigerians.

OGFZA beat all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) with 94 per cent, followed by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FMoFA), which scored 90.8 per cent before other MDAs.

The leading MDAs have functional websites containing detailed information about their statutory functions, customer-centric services delivery and better collaboration with other MDAs, which captures government’s directive on the EO1.

The Ease of Doing Business EO1 was the first executive order of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, which sought to promote transparency and efficiency in the business environment and overturn the status quo to the extent that investments, economic growth and prosperity become reality.

Signed on May 18, 2017, by the then Acting President Yemi Osibanjo, the EO1 has six directives that address limitations identified in the civil and public service systems.

Crosscutting directives, which apply to all MDAs include transparency, default approval and one government.

Others are entry experience of visitors and travellers, port operations and registration of businesses, which apply to specific sectors and MDAs.
