The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a woman, Omolara Oluwagbemi, for killing her fiancé, Sodiq Dauda.

According to a press release by the Command’s spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, in Abeokuta yesterday, the incident happened after a minor disagreement between the intending couple.

The deceased was said to have accused the suspect of mismanaging money from the gas business he entrusted in her care.

According to Oyeyemi, the suspect, during interrogation, alleged that her fiancé beat her up and sent her away from their apartment, but when she reported the incident to the deceased mother, she told her to go back home, that she was coming to settle the matter.

Oyeyemi said the suspect explained that immediately she got home, the deceased again descended on her, saying: “He started beating me up again and threatened to stab me with a broken bottle.

“It was at this point I took a kitchen knife, which I used to stab him on the rib.”

The Police spokesman said the victim was rushed to Ijebu-Ode General Hospital by the policemen at Igbeba Division, but gave up the ghost the following day, while undergoing treatment.

Oyeyemi disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the homicide section of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID) for further investigation.
