Okorocha, Olugbo of Ugbo mourn Benin monarch Erediauwa

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has commiserated with his Edo State counterpart, Adams Oshiomhole, over the death of Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa, at the weekend.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has commiserated with his Edo State counterpart, Adams Oshiomhole, over the death of Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa, at the weekend.

Also, the Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom in Ondo State, Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, has described the passing on of the monarch as a great loss to the people of Benin and Nigerians in general.

In a statement signed by Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, made available to The Guardian, the governor said he received the sad news with shock, condoling also with the entire Benin Kingdom.

The statement states: “The governor received the sad news of the demise of Oba Erediauwa of Benin Kingdom in Edo State with rude shock and wishes to extend his heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Edo State, Adam Oshiomole and the entire people of Benin Kingdom over the unfortunate incident.”

Okorocha said: “The late Oba of Benin was one of the few traditional rulers in the country who contributed immensely to the unity of the nation through their actions and utterances. And the nation would have preferred that he lives to continue to play that patriotic role.”
