Over 10,000 dump PDP for APC in Cross River
Over 10,000 supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Calabar Municipality, Cross River State, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Leading the pack is a former PDP stalwart, Ntufam Maurice Omin Iso, who said his decision and that of his supporters was to ensure the APC emerged victorious in 2019.
He said he was attracted to the party by its human relations programmes and was not joining to contest for any position.
Welcoming the decampees in Ikot Ansa Royal Square, Calabar, at the weekend, the APC National Vice Chairman, South-South, Ntufam Hilliard Eta, said with Iso’s support, APC would take over the government in the state in next year’s election.
Eta said: “All politics is local and this is my local council area. This new entrant into our party is known as a kingmaker. He has been involved in the emergence of political kings in my local council. My joy knows no bounds as we speak today, because he has joined me in the army of progressives to see that we seize power, not just in Calabar municipality, but also in Cross River State and bring progress and development to our people.”
Chairman, Coalition of APC Support Groups in the state, Comrade Iso Bassey Edim, expressed joy at the development, noting that the defection was timely, coming when state is faced with “unprecedented maladministration, underdevelopment, bad governance, ineffective leadership and misrepresentation.”
He said: “We are sure that your coming to APC would not only be an asset, but also a preparation for victory in Calabar municipality and Cross River State at large.”
