Oyo State government has commended workers for proving to be great allies. The state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun, gave the commendation in a statement.

He lauded their support for the Restoration, Transformation and Repositioning agenda and the implementation of development programmes of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration.

He stressed government’s appreciation of their commitment and dedication to duty. The commissioner said the state government would not relent in its resolve to continue to improve the welfare of workers. He said: “We felicitate with the workers in the state, who have been very supportive of its development.

Also, the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, extoled workers as they celebrate their day today. In a statement, he said workers throughout the world deserve to be celebrated, because they drive government’s machinery.

He commended their commitment and efforts, in spite of the many challenges that they face.He cited the challenges to range from “salary issues to poor working conditions defined by paucity of infrastructure.”

Obi noted that workers were among the people that make the greatest sacrifice for the good and development of the state. He advised them to also take the opportunity of the celebration and look inwards by sparing a moment’s reflection on the trajectory that the country is moving.

The ex-governor tasked them to be part of the positive changes that would make the country greater.Obi also called on those that govern states to always take the welfare of workers at heart, through prompt payment of salaries, as well as treating pensioners with care and love.
