In order to improve the transportation system in Lagos State, the Lagos State Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service (LACVIS) held a retreat for its management team and staff last week alongside the leadership of the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS).

The retreat, held at the PSSDC Conference Hall, Magodo, Lagos, was to review activities in 2017 and gear up participants of both organisations for 2018.

In his opening speech, Director of VIS, Mr. Hafeez Gbolahan Toriola, praised the synergy between both organizations while saluting the courage of LACVIS management team in setting enviable standards in vehicle inspection.

“LACVIS has invested so much to create standards and it is imperative that we support them to ensure that road carnages are reduced to achieve safer roads and safer vehicles,” he said.

Represented by the agency’s Human Resources Manager, Commodore Wale Okulenu (Rtd), Managing Director of LACVIS, Mr. Segun Obayendo, reiterated the goal of opening up more centres to achieve the ease of vehicle inspection in the state.

He noted that parking brakes is the major cause of failure recorded at the LACVIS centres. He gave a breakdown of the statistics of up to 5,000 vehicles inspected at both the Ojodu and Ikorodu facilities since the commencement of the programme last year, which included the pass, fail, retest and Road Worthiness Certificate issued.
