Aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Ogbia Local Government, Bayelsa State, have kicked against attempts to exclude them from the party’s primaries for the 2019 elections.

The members have petitioned the party’s Delegates Appeal Panel. They are concerned members, under the auspices of the Ogbia LGA Concerned Members Forum, consisting of party faithful, who bought nomination forms for the PDP adhoc delegates’ congress/election for the 13 wards in Ogbia.

The forum said the PDP in its guidelines fixed September 8 for the conduct of the congress to elect three adhoc ward delegates, but on the date, card-carrying members waited endlessly at the ward headquarters of the party for electoral officials to arrive.

It said party faithful congregated again on September 9, 2018, yet no officials turned up, hence in accordance with the party constitution, they conducted the delegates election that produced 39 authentic delegates cutting across the 13 wards in the area.

However, they are worried that the failure of officials to supervise the delegates’ election was a precursor to excluding and imposing mediocre persons on the party.
