Police arrest five kidnappers in Katsina
Police in Katsina yesterday said they have arrested five notorious kidnappers who are from two separate groups, that were in the habit of perpetuating their crime in the state.
The first group, a three-man gang, allegedly kidnapped an eight-year-old girl, Sayyaba Ishiye of Dadanya village, in Danmusa local council of the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Wakili confirmed the development in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Gambo Isah.
Wakili said all the suspects have since confessed to the crime.
He said “On 12/01/2018 at about 10:00hrs, the command, based on a tip-off succeeded in bursting a notorious syndicate of armed robbery/kidnapping suspects.
“The suspects include Isah Sani, 25; Abdullahi Salisu, 30, and Babangida Bello, 22; all of Danmusa and Matazu LGAs.
He also said that “On 16/01/2018 at about 00:15hrs, based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in bursting another syndicate of notorious armed robbery/kidnapping for ransom syndicate at Danmusa.’’
The statement also said the command had arrested a notorious syndicate that specializes in trans-border trafficking of Indian hemp to Niger Republic.
The commissioner said detectives were not relenting as they are working round the clock to ensure thorough investigations of all suspects arrested and would be charged to court immediately.
