The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of the Commissioner of Police in charge of Medicals and 2,057 other senior Police Officers to their next rank, as the recruitment portal opened for the 10,000 slots approved by the President was officially closed at midnight.

The promotion of the Officers, according to the statement issued by the Head of Press and Public Affairs unit of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, was given to deserving officers. CP Kaumi Ahmadu was promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), while 99 Superintendents (SP) of Police were elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).

Also promoted were 754 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP). 1203 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) were also promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, while one Inspector was elevated to the next rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP11).

The Commission Chairman, Mike Okiro, said the promotions were based on merit, seniority and availability of vacancies. The former Inspector General of Police (IGP) maintained that the Commission’s commitment to ensure that deserving Police Officers are promoted as at when due to serve as motivation to other Officers.
