Rotary Club commissions’ safety billboard in Kubwa
THE Rotary Club of Kubwa, District 9125 recently commissioned a road safety awareness billboard at Kagini, along the Kubwa-Zuba Expressway, Abuja.
Commissioning the billboard, District Governor 9125, Dr. Mike Omotosho, said the need to create awareness on safety on the road is to reduce accidents which, according to him,” is a silent killer in the society, higher than cancer.”
He further stressed the need for Rotary members to continue to be change agents in their respective communities by embarking on projects that has direct impact on citizens.
The President of the Rotary Club of Kubwa, Olugbenga Babatayo Oke, stated that the club embarked on the project to create a new wave of road safety consciousness among road users along the Kubwa-Zuba Expressway. According to him, the Kubwa Expressway has recorded series of avoidable accidents where precious lives have been lost.
The Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) R.S 7. 15 Kubwa Unit Command, Mr I. Abdulahi, expressed the appreciation of the Unit Command to the Rotary Club of Kubwa for the life- changing project, stressing that the unit would not relent in its efforts towards making it safer for users. The billboard contains messages written in the three major languages of the country.
