The president of the Rotary Club of Amuwo, Lagos State, Rotn. Uzoamaka Akaneme, has said if every Nigerian could be an instrument of inspiration for positive change in their community, the country will be better for it. She added that life is meaningful if we are able to touch lives in profound ways.

“I commend to us the mortal words of Mother Theresa, the acclaimed queen of the gutters, who said: ‘Let no one ever come to you without leaving better expression, kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, and kindness in your smile.’”

Speaking during her installation as the 32nd president of the club, she said she believes in service above self and promised to be the inspirational president.

“This Rotary year, our club has outlined several impactful projects.

We are not under the illusion that these goals can be achieved without money.

I am also aware that you do not need to be stupendously rich before you make a donation. Being generous is a matter of choice.

I appeal to you to make that important choice and donate generously towards the realizations of our numerous projects.”

The immediate past president of the club, Uche Jinwa, thanked the board for their hard work to ensure they had a successful year.

“I thank our club members for doing what you do so well, which is rise to the occasion when called upon to make our community and the world a better place for all and all our past presidents for their support and counseling throughout the year.”
