Rotary Club takes free medical outreach to Kosofe

To promote good health and touch lives in communities in Lagos, the Rotary Club of Gbagada, District 9110, through its medical outreach recently provided free check up and treatment to residents of Isheri-Oke, in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The medical services included free eye and dental check-up and provision of polio vaccines for children.

Speaking at the occasion, president of the club, Dr. Basirat Giwa, said in line with Rotary’s commitment to health this year, they have decided to bring healthcare professionals to the community to provide free medical checks and give free drugs to the residents.

She stated that through the outreach, the club intends to provide free medical services to over 1,000 people in the community. She also expressed the readiness of the club to pick up the bills of beneficiaries that may incur additional expenses.

District Governor, Kola Sodipo, while soliciting support for polio immunisation in the community, said the country must build on it’s two years positive results against the scourge so that by August 2019, the World Health Organisation (WHO) would certified the country as polio free. He therefore called on leaders in the community to support the campaign through creation of awareness and enlightenment of their people.

Assistant District Governor, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, urged residents to ensure their children join the club saying through their membership, the community would have greater access to Rotary and benefits more.

Baale of the community, Chief Albert Oluwole Bankole, called on residents to support the club.

One of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Awakan Morufu, expressed delight at the gesture and also urged the club to assist in providing water to the community.
