Saraki honours Armed Forces personnel, urges more support for veterans
The wife of the Senate President and Founder/president of The Wellbeing Foundation Africa, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, yesterday paid a visit to the 9 Brigade Medical Centre, Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos, to honour the spouses of the Nigerian Army as well as donate several items to the pregnant and nursing mothers through her foundation.
Taking a detailed tour of the hospital and its services, Saraki expressed her delight at the state of the facilities and services being rendered by the Chief Matron of the hospital, Captain Onyeke and her staff. Addressing the mothers present, top officials of the 9 Brigade and members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) who turned out en masse to support her, Saraki said she was honoured to be in the midst of wives of brave men, sacrificing themselves daily to protect Nigerians.
She added that her foundation is targeted at wives of uniformed men, helping them through pregnancy till birth, saying that though the classes are only available in military hospitals in Lagos and Kwara states presently, she hopes to scale it across the country for civilians and other service people alike.
Calling for more support for veterans to enable them re-enter society successfully when they return from the battlefield emotionally distraught, she urged the government, communities and health sector to offer them counseling, support and employment when they return from the frontline. She promised never to abandon pregnant or nursing mothers of armed forces personnel as long as she is alive.

Quite unfortunate for all this sacrifice internal or external by the Nigerian military and still no assured direction for the result of this sacrifices. Our blood and resources flows for Peace Corps and we cannot recoup from the country concerned as US, China, USSR, Europe does and home here, assets are lost and government are not making concrete rooted moves to resolve the concurrent issues, thinking that the continued death of assets will suffice for the growing dissatisfaction of the Political and Social Status quo.
We will review and take appropriate action.
