Shoprite chairman Wiese makes first visit to Nigeria

The controlling shareholder of Shoprite Holdings Limited, Dr. Christoffel Wiese, would visit Nigeria in November 2017 as guest speaker at a major international conference in Lagos,

The conference, “Networking with the Giants” is organised by Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs (AYE) and would hold on November 30, 2017 at Lagos Oriental Hotel.

Wiese confirmed his attendance during a courtesy visit by the President of A.Y.E, Summy Smart Francis and other executives of the organisation to Shoprite’s Cape Town office.

The Founder and Chairman of Alibaba Group, Jack Ma would headline the conference.

“I have never been to Nigeria due to my very busy schedule, I have missed two Networking with the Giant conferences, but will be happy to attend this and network with different people that I have never met before,” Wiese said of the trip.

According to the A.Y.E president: “Wiese’s message went straight to my heart and everyone has to hear it so as to fully experience the impact of the counsel.”

The conference will be a convergence of global corporate and business giants and would feature other eminent personalities as former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mrs. Folorunso Alakija, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. John Moore (USA), Mrs. Patti Boulaye Obe (UK) and Mr. Ashish Thakkar (Uganda).

Francis said the conference would also provide a networking platform for budding entrepreneurs, government leaders, policy makers, business executives, managing directors/chief executive officers, directors and public and private sector industry leaders to connect and share insights with like minds.

Wiese is also the Chairman of Invicta Holdings Limited and Pepkor and was recently honoured as the 11th A.Y.E honorary member.

Shoprite Holdings Limited became operational in Nigeria in 2005 and is regarded as Africa’s largest retail supermarket, with a network of about 2,689 outlets across 15 countries in Africa and Indian Ocean Islands.
