Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have killed two Boko Haram terrorists in a joint counter-insurgency operation with Camerounian Defence Forces and Civilian JTF in Borno State.

The troops also arrested 11 suspected terrorists in their Bukar Maryam and Abbaganaram village hideouts.

Spokesman of Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement, yesterday, in Maiduguri, said the arrests were made in a fierce firefight to clear surrounding villages of fleeing insurgents.

He said the troops also recovered two multipurpose rocket grenade launchers, a rocket propelled gun charger, two AK-47 rifle
magazines with 22 rounds of ammunition and a vest.

He added that a Boko Haram flag was captured along with a pair of camouflage and a military type belt.

“The Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team also on Thursday successfully uncovered three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by the terrorists in Doron Naira village,” Nwachukwu said in the statement, adding that the planting of explosives was to cause havoc on the communities.

He said the discoveries were made during a counter-IEDs operation and the EOD team has safely detonated the IEDs.
