The immediate past governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has stated that Nigeria would experience rapid transformation when true federalism is allowed to thrive.

Daniel, who said this in his message to Nigerians on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir festival, said the only way for Nigeria’s survival as a nation was for all governments in the land, irrespective of their political, ethnic or religious affiliations to initiate programmes that would contribute to the uplift of the citizenry.

He urged Muslims to pray for the nation against religious intolerance and other acts threatening its unity, progress and peace.

He also called on them to imbibe the spirit of selflessness as demonstrated by Ibrahim in his willingness to sacrifice his son in line with divine injunction, stressing that such should be replicated by not only the Muslims but the generality of Nigerians to overcome the various social, economic and political challenges being experienced in the nation.

He also urged Nigerians to renew their spirit of sacrifice and patriotism and rededicate themselves to values and virtues that would promote tolerance, brotherhood and unity across the country.

On the current upheaval in the Niger Delta, the former governor advocated for peace and harmonious co-existence in a diverse society like ours as he renewed his call for restructuring.
Also, a former Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has commended Nigerians for their courage, resilience and perseverance in the face of daunting economic and security challenges.

He, in a Sallah message yesterday in Yola, stated that Nigerians have proved that they are united in any situation they find themselves.

He, therefore, called on the Muslim faithful to use the Sallah period to pray for the country to recover from the economic recession.

In other Sallah messages, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bindow and the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, urged Nigerians to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to enable him provide people-oriented schemes.

Bindow, who stated that the economy crisis was temporary and that government would soon overcome it, called on Nigerians to see the present economic crisis as part of human life, which he said, was full of negative and positive challenges.
