Less than one month after the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole inaugurated a new APC Cross River State executive, following the sack of the two factional executives of the party; another factional party executive has emerged.

The national executive had in August sacked the two factional executives of the party in the state led by Ntufam Godwin Etim John and Dr. Mathew Achigbe for a fresh congress that produced Achigbe, who was subsequently inaugurated. Achigbe, operating from the party secretariat at Barracks Road, thereafter inaugurated the chapter and zonal executives of the party. The John’s faction was not happy with the outcome of the congress, leading to its setting up of a party office around Marian area of Calabar.

During the week, in line with the national body, stakeholders in the state APC led by Achigbe said it has adopted direct primaries for election of its flag bearers for various positions in 2019 general elections.

A release by the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bassey Ita, said Mr. Paul Adah, a governorship aspirant, moved the motion for the adoption of direct primaries, which was seconded by Dr. David Okon.

Similarly, in a statement, the John’s faction also said it was adopting direct primaries to select its candidates.
