Two Turkish nationals that were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Akwa Ibom state two weeks ago, have regained their freedom. The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Donald Awunah while addressing journalists at the Police Headquarters Ikot Akpan Abia Uyo, disclosed this yesterday.

According to him, the command recorded this feat due to what he described as ‘actionable intelligence and skillful professional negotiation’. He added that five persons have been arrested and are helping the police in their investigations. It would be recalled that on the April 10th, 2017 unknown gunmen kidnapped two men from their hotel room in Eket, Eket local council area of Akwa Ibom State. On the proprietor of Sure Foundation Polytechnic Dr. Idongesit Udom kidnapped within the same period, the CP called on the family not to be alarmed that the command is doing everything to ensure that he is rescued alive.

The commissioner who did not parade any of the suspects arrested for various crimes, named four persons, all male, for their involvement in Advance Fee Fraud. According to him, Godwin Edokpolor, Chibuike Amadi, Maxwell John and Uchenna Onyekwere, hacked into a customer’s account in one of the new generation banks and fraudulently withdrew and transferred the sum of Forty Million, Six hundred and seventy thousand naira only, into various accounts.
