UNIBEN screens candidates for admission
No fewer than 36,000 post-UTME candidates that applied to the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have undergone the pre-admission screening organised by the institution.
Speaking at the weekend in Benin City, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), UNIBEN, Michael Osasuyi, said the system adopted for the 2016 screening included the use of biometric and physical appearance of the candidates to justify the qualifications submitted online by them.
“We have also had some hitches where some candidates come for the screening exercise with fake results. We discovered this during the screening that some of the documents uploaded online by some applicants on the school portal and those tendered physically at the venue of the screening are so different,” he said.
Osasuyi, who assured the screened candidates of fairness, further stressed: “We will give equal opportunities for all 36,000 applicants, though our carrying capacity is just about 9,000 and some fractions.”
