UNILORIN ASUU faults call on Oloyede to resign
University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) teachers yesterday rose in support of the Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Prof Isiaq Oloyede dismissing the call for his resignation.
The union insisted that the JAMB boss should be commended for his innovation rather than condemned.
The leadership of the academic staff union at the University of Ibadan (UI) had called for the resignation of Oloyede citing his poor handling of the ongoing registration exercise, faulting the new registration procedure introduced by the JAMB boss and the stress candidates are put through.
But the UNILORIN ASUU described the call for Oloyede’s resignation as “laughable” and in bad faith, adding that the new strategies would no doubt block wastage and leakages in finance, reduce sharp practices and promote efficiency.
It attributed the hiccups experienced at the initial stage to impatience and panic on the part of candidates saying the situation is calmer now.
