The Edo State House of Assembly has impeached its deputy speaker Victor Edoror.

The impeachment followed a motion moved by the member representing Oredo East Constituency, Hon. Osaigboyo Oyoha.

Edoror, who represents Esan Central constituency, was accused of financial misappropriation, anti-party activities and corruption.

The impeachment notice was signed by 16 members, out of the 24 lawmakers in the House and the deputy speaker was immediately replaced with a former Speaker, Justin Okonobor.

Edoror’s impeachment led to pandemonium in the Assembly Complex as security operatives shot in the air to disperse angry supporters of the embattled member, who allegedly attempted to stop the impeachment.
