Voters at unit 008 Kabusa Abuja Municipal Area Council decry late arrival of INEC materials
There was a massive turnout of voters at unit 008 Kabusa , Municipal Area Council , Federal Capital Territory (FCT) , Abuja at about 8:30 am but there was not presence of INEC officials until few minute to 12 pm .
When Guardian visited there , the voters complained bitterly on the late arrival of INEC materials .
Engr. Joke Sampson , one of the voter at the unit has this to say “The point is that the INEC officials they came very late this venue of voting and you can see how hard the things are now because we are expecting we should have started accreditation by 8 am in the morning as said by the INEC official before now but unfortunately they are just arriving at the venue just about 30 minutes ago and now we are just starting accreditation now which is almost 12 noon.
Definitely we will not be able to finish accreditation by 1:30 as said and that shows that voting proper might end around 6 to 7pm in the evening which is not proper . ”
He continued ” If the card reader fail i think they have to resort for manual accreditation . They should check the picture on the card , check the document on the registration paper and check whether they conform with the picture on the card then we will be able to do voting .
Another thing is in a situation like this it will be advisable that those people that will do accreditation around 1pm they should start voting immediately . As they are doing the accreditation they are. Outing immediately so as to maintain the time that has been arranged for this exercise .
Okechukwu Ude , who was also one of the voter at the unit , lamented that the late arrival of INEC materials would cause setback at the election .
” many of us came here this morning and we did not see INEC and their materials . I want to tell you that this will frustrate efforts of INEC to conduct credible elections . I doubt if this thing continue like this we will have a credible elections in this country. “
