Waziri, husband of former EFCC boss, buried in Billiri
The remains of former Nigeria’s ambassador to Turkey, Senator Adamu Ajuji Waziri, were late Thursday buried at his country home at Poshiya in Billiri Council of Gombe State.
Waziri, who is the husband of former chairperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Farida, died in an Indian hospital after a protracted illness at 85.
The funeral prayer, which was led by the Chief Imam of Billiri, Abdullahi Mohammed, took place around 6.20pm on Thursday.
Acting Governor Charles Iliya, who led the state government delegation to the funeral, described Waziri’s death as big blow not only to the state, but also the country as a whole, adding that his contributions right from the First Republic to the present dispensation have been monumental and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Farida said her husband had demonstrated how a true nationalist ought to live, describing him as a man who lived for the unity and peaceful coexistence of the country until his death.
