Yobe saves N6.12b off ghost workers in 2017
Yobe State government has said it saved over N6 billion, following its biometric workers’ verification exercise in the 17 local council areas of the state.
The exercise, concluded last year, dropped the state’s total monthly wage bill to N990m, from N1.5b.Director-General of Press Affairs to the Governor, Abdullahi Bego, disclosed this, yesterday, in Damaturu, while briefing reporters on the outcome of the verification.
“With the current monthly wage bill of N990 million, government has saved N510m a month from ghost workers. Five distressed councils that could not pay salaries are now doing so without borrowing from any source,” he said.
