Young entrepreneur wins big at The Venture final
Chioma Ukonu of Recycle Points has emerged winner of the N1million grand prize of and a chance to compete against 32 other global finalists of Chivas’ The Venture, a global search to fund and support the next generation of businesses, with over $1million in funding and resources, which holds in the United States (US) next year.
Ukonu came top from the 200 entries for a chance to emerge winner and take part in the accelerator programme in Oxford, United Kingdom (UK).
The Venture is an initiative that strives to ensure the next generation of startups gets a chance to be discovered and thrive.
Describing her victory as a dream come true, Ukonu, who couldn’t hold back tears of joy, promised to do all in her power to win the $1million funding in the US, described her business idea as unique, and the Judges were impressed by her composure and presentation.
The two other finalists, Charles Immanuel of Mobicure and Destiny Federick of Eco Future, who were runner ups were not left in the cold as went home with N250, 000 and N500, 000, respectively.
The brand ambassador for Chivas Nigeria, Tobi Fasuyi, commended the finalists for making it thus far, declaring them all as winners, urging them not to give up with their businesses, as they were the future of the nation.
Describing this year’s edition as bigger and better than last year’s, Fasuyi promised to do more to support and encourage startups in Nigeria.
The N1million bottle of Chivas Ace made available for the occasion was put up for auction, and according to Fasuyi, the proceeds would be ploughed back into the initiative.
