Youth restiveness: Ministry of Interior to partner Nigeria scouts federation
The Ministry of Interior says it will partner with the Nigeria Scouts Federation in addressing youth restiveness and building a virile nation.
The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, said this on Monday in Abuja when retired Col. Ahmed Zabir, Chief Commissioner, Nigeria Scouts Federation, paid him a courtesy visit.
Dambazau commended the Federation for successfully moulding the character and moral rectitude of the Nigerian youth over the years, especially against crime.
He noted that the federation had been very instrumental in inculcating values such as honesty, loyalty, courage and selfless service in Nigerians.
He stressed the importance of scouting activities in positively impacting on the lives of the youth while recalling the training and discipline he received as a boy scout.
The minister called for more awareness on the activities of the association so as to make better impact on the generality of Nigerians.
I want to applaud the courage and diligence of the federation in their contribution toward educating the youths and helping to build a better Nigeria,’’ he said.
Dambazau promised to collaborate with the Scouts Federation to further its cause and mission.
Earlier, Zabir said they were in the Ministry to create awareness for the association’s programmes across the country.
He expressed the readiness of the association in providing public support services, especially in emergency and disaster relief situations.
The highlight of the occasion was the decoration of the minister as a patron of the Scout Federation.
