APC defectors took their decisions two years ago, but manifesting now, says Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State says that those defecting from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had taken the decision two years, but playing their scripted political plans to reality by switching over to their newly found political parties. Okorocha, disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists at Government House, Owerri, adding that their political interests informed their choices.

The governor urged the public not to take the defectors’ action as sign of low performance or disgrace to the APC in the political space. Urging the Igbos that they should make a political rebirth for the sake of 2019 in ensuring the re-election of President Buhari, Okorocha said, “It will be good news for us and our political future, that we are hoping that two South-East governors will soon jump ship and move into APC before the elections. We won’t accept the idea of a PDP governor working for Buhari while expecting us to return him as a PDP governor. It will be unfair for the party. It is either you are with us or not with us.

He opined that two governors in the Southeast geo -political zone would soon pitch their political tent, leaving their parties to the APC.Speaking about the issue of his erstwhile deputy, Prince Eze Madumere and the impeachment as Deputy Governor, Okorocha said: “The swearing-in of the Deputy-Governor -designate was stopped by a court order. The former deputy governor was duly impeached according to the laid down rules of the Constitution.

He went to court praying that the new deputy governor should not be sworn-in. The court granted him the order on the claim that due process was not followed. Being a law-abiding government, we obeyed the order. So, as it stands now, the Deputy- governor has been impeached,” he insisted.

He disclosed that Buhari would soon embark on a three -day visit to Imo State to commission some out of several projects executed by his administration in the state. Okorocha challenged his political detractors in the state to float a party if they have what it takes or do what he did in 2011 or in 2015, alleging that they were too unpopular always wanting to be in any ruling party.According to him, the Coalition Allied Forces of the APC comprising of his political foes, which played uncomplimentary roles during the botched congresses in Imo, has come to an end.
