The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cried foul over alleged lapses in preparations for the February 17 local government council election, even as it accused the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) of planning to circumvent processes for the poll.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), meanwhile, has denied it is plotting to rig the exercise.

Addressing journalists in Jos, yesterday, the state party chairman, Damishi Sango, said while the law empowering PLASIEC to organise the election is in place, there is no law to govern the functions of the soon-to-be elected local government officials.

“We are aware the Plateau State House of Assembly passed the local government law, which takes care of tenure and general administration some five months ago.
