The Kebbi State All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 21 local councils in last Saturday’s election in the state.Chairman of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KSIEC), Aliyu Mohammed Mera, while declaring the results of the council poll, said the APC swept all the chairmanship positions.

“Having been satisfied by the various returning officers in the 21 local councils of the state, I declare that the APC won the chairmanship positions in all the councils with a wide margin,” Mera said in a statement.

He said the election recorded impressive turnout of the electorate just as it was peaceful, free and fair. However, the security agencies were present in all the polling units to protect the electorate, while no violence or casualties were recorded.

Reacting to the result shortly after the declaration, the spokesman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Ibrahim Mahey, said that the party was not satisfied with the results.

He accused the APC of writing the results to favour its candidates, adding that the party merely awarded scores to its candidates but urged the supporters to remain calm as they are working toward challenging the election outcome.
