Bindow in early leads of APC governorship primaries

The hope of Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, to clinched the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Adamawa state brightens yesterday, as he take early leads in the primaries elections taking place in the state.

The hope of Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, to clinched the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Adamawa state brightens yesterday, as he take early leads in the primaries elections taking place in the state.

However, the younger brother to president Muhammadu Buhari’s wife Alhaji Mahmoud Halilu Ahmed has said that there was no primary election in the state yesterday, since he could vote due to non-availability of election materials in his Mbamoi ward in Yola-south local government.

Although when The Guardian visited Alkalawa ward, Gwadabawa ward in Yola -north local government and other wards in the state capital primary election was peacefully taking place with Bindow talking lead with huge crowd queue behind his picture to vote.

At the Buhari’s in- law Mbamoi ward in Yola-south local government praises of Bindow “sai governor Bindow”rented the air, with others praising Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu as their candidate.Ahmed told journalists that there were logistics problems over the distribution of the election materials; pointing out that any result from any quarters will not be accepted by him.

“It is not possible for anybody to claim that election take place in Adamawa if in the state capital, there is no election materials at about 5pm I wonder when such materials will get to places like Koma in Jada local government and other far local government,it is a pity that we have only 48 hours from today to submit governorship name to Independent National Electoral Commission and we are still talking about primary election,” he lamented.

He said that he will not accept senate seat offer to concede the governorship ticket to Bindow,noting that his people need him to rescue them from the claws of poor leadership and that he can only do that when he become the governor.While discrediting the exercise, he said that most of the wards he visited hooligans took over those venues due to lack of tight security and that non-party members and under age were dominated the primary venues. .

The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Adamawa Governorship primaries, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Jibril (rtd), has assured all the aspirants that he will conduct a free and fair primary despite the late arrival of the committee.

Gov. Muhammadu Bindow, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and Dr Mahmood Halilu are participating in yesterday direct primaries scheduled to commence by 2 pm.Speaking to newsmen on Friday in Yola, Jibril said the committee was committed to conduct a credible election in the state.

“I want to reiterate that by the grace of God, we will ensure a credible election; we have no favored candidate,” Jibril said.The chairman of the committee said that only party members whose names are in the register and have PVCs would be allowed to participate in the primaries.He stated that ward officials of the party in collaboration would conduct result from the primaries in the wards with INEC officials and member of the committee.
