The Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organisation (KOCO) has expressed concern that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Fayemi, appointed recuperating Opeyemi Bamidele as his Director General (DG).

KOCO’s Director of Media and Publicity of KOCO, Lere Olayinka, said using Bamidele to issue campaign statements for Fayemi was callous and the height of wickedness.

He said: “What sane minds ought to do was to pray for the recuperation of Bamidele, who is still receiving treatment abroad.”

Bamidele had through his Media Aide, Ahmed Salami, yesterday sent a message to the APC candidate, at a rally in Iyin Ekiti.

He urged Ekiti people to embrace the new light that Fayemi represents.

He also implored them to key into the vision of the APC candidate to reclaim the state from those who are pillaging the people’s commonwealth.

The statement said Fayose has reduced Fayemi’s campaign burden by 50 per cent, adding that his poor performance has paved way for Fayemi to win the election, because many of the communities that massively voted for him in 2014 have not benefitted from the administration.

The statement reiterated that Fayemi provided democratic dividends across 133 towns when he was governor from 2010 to 2014.

But KOCO said: “How can anyone be happy to use Bamidele’s name to issue press statements at this time? This is someone whose late father ought to have been buried last weekend, but the burial was postponed.”

He added that the injuries that Opeyemi sustained from the gunshots by the policemen hired by Fayemi and his supporters caused the funeral to be postponed.

Olayinka said the PDP would not respond to any statement purportedly issued by Bamidele, because press statements are not issued from hospital bed.

“Rather, we can only join his genuine lovers to pray that he recovers more quickly,” he said.

Olayinka said at no time did Fayose’s government take any loan to execute capital projects, adding that the Federal Government only gave his government N10 billion grant from the Excess Crude Account to execute capital projects.

Responding, the state chairman of the APC, Jide Awe, said Bamidele was already nominated as the director general before he was accidentally shot.

Awe said on the contrary, it would have been wickedness for him to be dropped on account of the accident.

He added that Bamidele would remain the DG, irrespective of what the PDP thinks.

He disclosed that the APC is conscious of the fact that Bamidele is recuperating, which explained why another person is performing hid duties.
