The chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) ‎Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha has dismissed insinuations of the threat to its chances by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections.

Addressing State House Correspondents after he led APC governors to a closed-door meeting with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Governor Rochas said the PDP was not a formidable opposition to his party’s victory in 2019.

He explained that his party will soon hold its convention in order “to put our house in order and make sure that things are in right form before we keek off.”

Reacting to questions on whether the planned convention was as a result of pressure coming from the PDP, he said “we are just putting our house in order” so as to remain victorious in all elections.

‎He also clarified that the delay in the party’s convention was not associated with the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari who is on a medical follow-up in London, United Kingdom (UK).

“The convention not taking place has nothing to do with the absence of the President or Acting President. We are just putting our house in order and making sure things are in the right form before we kick off.

“PDP is a non-issue. We don’t even care about that. We defeated them when they were in power so, what is the difference when we are now in power?”

He disclosed that the Governors met with Prof Osinbajo “to discuss issues relating to our party and our government and how to move our party forward.

“We discussed a lot of issues on how to the party forward n how to strengthen the party and how to make sure our party our party remains victorious in all elections. Very soon we will have a convention, that is part of the things we are discussing,” he said.
