A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the September governorship election in Osun State, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has refuted being linked to ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The aspirant also dismissed as unfounded rumour that he has link with President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Leader of APC, Ahmed Tinubu.

Ogunbiyi dismissed the insinuation on the grounds that his political platform is not in consonance with the duo.

In a statement signed by his Director of Campaign, Mr. Olalere Fagbola, the PDOP governorship aspirant described the claim that he was pro-Buhari and Tinubu as a scheme by his opponents who were afraid of the overwhelming support he was enjoying in the governorship race.

He recalled that the first time his ambition was attacked he was labeled a political neophyte trying to reap where he did not sow.

Ogunbiyi disclosed that the Osun State Chairman of the PDP, Sola Adagunodo, clarified the issue when he affirmed that he had been among those financing the party and part of the PDP’s reconciliation process in the past three years.

He said: “Since the political neophyte story failed to fly, the mischief-makers invented the Buhari/Tinubu sponsorship tale. Meanwhile, my choice of the PDP as a platform to actualise my dream was informed by my perception of it as the best party and a viable vehicle to deepen democracy in Nigeria. It is therefore inconceivable for anyone to imagine that I would work against the party, which success story I have been part of.

“As a firm believer and a man of strong conviction in my mission to usher in good things of life for the people, no amount of blackmail and character assassination will deter me from my resolve to put Osun State on the front burner of economic recovery.”
