Some political parties and associations, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), yesterday, urged young Nigerians to show more interests in politics and political activities, which is an avenue, they said could help actualise their taking over of the country’s political space.

They spoke in Benin City, Edo State, at the opening session of a three-day capacity building for youths in the Niger Delta Region, organised by the Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD).

On his part, chairman of CNPP, Roy Oribabor, advocated that political parties should be sponsored by government, so they could have level field for all intending members.

The APC state publicity secretary, Chris Azebamwne urged youths not to allow themselves to be used.

His PDP counterpart, Chris Nehikhare said the political system has been polluted, hence nobody wants to accept defeat even when elections are credible.

Executive Director, Centre LSD, Dr. Otive Igbuzor said there was need to build young people’s capacity, who are interested in going into politics.
