Ahead of the December 9, 2017 People Democratic Party (PDP) national convention, the Northeast zonal chapter of the party has endorsed Professor Tunde Adeniran, for the position of national chairman.

The Northeast Zonal Vice Chairman, Ambassador Emmanuel Njwah, who disclosed this during a meeting at Gombe International Hotel, appealed to party faithful to reflect on the issues that led to the fall of the PDP in the 2015 general election and avoid similar pitfalls at the convention on 9thDecember 2017.

“We must learn from the mistakes of the party in the past and prepare to do the right thing,” Njwah added, extolling the exemplary leadership qualities of Prof. Adeniran with whom, he said, PDP’s future could be entrusted.

While expressing satisfaction with the people on Adeniran’s entourage, the zonal Vice Chairman said they “are people we know and in whom we are well pleased. We know that with them our party is in safe hands.”

Also speaking, the Director General of Adeniran’s campaign, Shehu Musa Gabam, said Adeniran had been tested over time and should be trusted to effectively represent the interest of public without tribal or religious bias.

“We want to rebuild our party and take power back in 2019. We need a chairman with solid PDP base, deep experience and capacity to face challenges. Prof Adeniran is one candidate that will not be intimated by the APC government with arrest issues, and he is the only one that can lead the electoral and political battles in 2019 to rescue Nigeria and change the ‘change’ that put Nigerians into suffering.
On his part, Adeniran assured party members that he would not betray them if elected as national chairman, adding that party interests would be key, especially at a time the PDP needed hard working people to reclaim the mandate lost to the APC in 2015.

He promised to bring back sanity to the PDP by ensuring justice, fairness and equity in administration. Some of the stalwarts that accompanied the aspirant were former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, former Kano State Governor, Sabo Bakin Zuwo, Senator Sa’idu Umar Kumo and former Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Maina.
