Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has assured there will be no imposition of candidates in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as it heads for local government elections in June.

He told stakeholders at the Government House Port Harcourt, yesterday, that only popular candidates would emerge through transparent primaries. “The imposition of candidates will not be allowed in the PDP. We will use the local government elections to test the waters.

Let people come out and vote, so that we know that we are doing well,” he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) meanwhile said it would begin display of the list of citizens captured in the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the first quarter of the year beginning March 26, 2018.

The exercise, which is a requirement of the law, is intended to afford citizens who registered between January 8 and March 23 this year the opportunity to check their bio-data for errors and make corrections.
