The Ebonyi State government has said that it enjoys a cordial relationship with the State House of Assembly because there was no room for suspicion between the two arms of government.

The Special Adviser to Governor on House of Assembly liaison, Hon Ikechukwu Ogbu, told journalists in Abakaliki that the leadership of both arms of government understood the ethics of human relationship and are working to deepen democracys.

Ogbu said what causes problem is when one suspects the other of hoarding information, an act, he said, the present government has tried as much as possible to avoid.

He said, “For people to have cordial relationship, certain thins have to be sorted out. The cordial relationship between the Executive and Legislature in the state is because the people in the helm of affairs know how to operate.”

“What causes problem is when one suspects the other, when you don’t give information when you were supposed to do so. But when you let the people know what you are doing and what you intend to do and, if really it is for the benefit of the people, there will be cordial relationship.”

He said the state governor in its effort to ensure independence of the legislative arm had last year December constituted House of Assembly Commission, which was hitherto non-existent, to prove that in spite of their existing relationship, the House was not in anyway a stooge of the Executive arm.

Meanwhile, a member of the Ebonyi State Local Government Service Commission, Tony Abel yesterday, said that the developmental strides recorded by Governor David Umahi within seven months in office has vindicated the support he enjoyed from the people during the 2015 governorship election.

Abel, who said this in a chat with journalists in Abakaliki, noted that God has vindicated those, who insisted that Umahi is the right man for the governorship seat.

“God has really vindicated so many of us who as people to vote for Umahi to be the state governor. Within seven months in office, God has vindicated us,” he said.

Noting that Umahi has provided potable water, electricity and fixed many roads, which were in deplorable state, he said, “He has provided water, roads and electrification. The question now is if he is the first or second governor to record such a feat. I give God all the glory that Umahi has really come to work for the people. I will continue to say that at the end of his first four years, investors will begin to come to Ebonyi State.”

He said with the governor’s achievements, the people are already reaping the dividends of democracy, as political opponents are already joining hands in the ongoing rapid transformation of the state.
