Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State says a vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election would invite herdsmen’s killings. He stated this during a meeting with teachers, civil servants and local government workers in Ado Ekiti.

In a press statement yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, he urged Ekiti people to reject APC and its candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and charged the people to learn from the daily killings by herdsmen in the APC-controlled states of Benue, Plateau, Zamfara, Kaduna and Nasarawa. He said voting for the party in Ekiti would invite chaos, killing, raping of people’s wives and daughters by the killer herdsmen, which the APC harbours. He stressed that the number of widows and orphans in these states are increasing every day.

The governor said since the killings started, the Federal Government had not been able to stop it, even as the APC governors are being careful not to offend the presidency.“We all can see how the herdsmen have continued to kill, maim and rape innocent citizens, as even toddlers are not spared. In Zamfara State for instance, Governor Abdulaziz Yari, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, recently said he was resigning as the Chief Security Officer of his state.

The truth is that the governors know what to do, but they cannot do it because they don’t want to offend President Muhammadu Buhari.”Fayose added that in Benue State, “burial of people killed by the herdsmen has become a daily occurrence. Many communities have been deserted and people now live in internally displaced persons camps. Unfortunately, the governor has resigned to fate because it is an APC state.”

According to the governor, when the killer herdsmen invaded Olu Falae’s farm and set it ablaze, the governor couldn’t do anything, because he did not want to offend the presidency that helped him to power.“Also in Kaduna that is another APC state, the killer herdsmen and bandits are slaughtering the people like fowl and the government cannot stop it.

“This is for you to know that there is no APC-controlled state where the herdsmen have not become terror to the people,” he said.Fayose also cautioned the workers’ against selling their votes, adding that the Electoral Offences Tribunal would prosecute whoever is caught collecting money to vote.He urged them to vote and stay at the polling units until the results are announced, and Olusola is declared the winner.Fayose stated this yesterday when he distributed letters of promotion to civil servants at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado Ekiti.
