ExxonMobil pledges support for triathlon as clinic ends
Sponsor of the Triathlon holiday clinic for schools in Lagos State, Exxon Mobil has assured its continued support for the development of the sport in the country, as the three-day event ends at the Teslim Balogun Stadium today.
Speaking at the clinic organised by the Nigeria Triathlon Union (NTU) to train and discover talents for the sport, Manager, Media and Communications, ExxonMobil, Oge Udeagha called on the participants to use the opportunity given to them by NTU to sharpen their skills in the sport, noting that the oil outfit would not relent in ensuring triathlon reached the desired height in future.
“This is a big chance for the participants to learn the rudiments of triathlon and I will enjoin the students to take advantage of this opportunity. What we do at ExxonMobil is to invest in the future generation that would take the country to the next level through sports.
ExxonMobil has consistently invested in other sports programmes, education and health initiatives that have better the lot of many globally,’’ he said.
Also speaking at the event, Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Adewunmi Ogunsanya, who was the guest of honour at the event, commended the NTU for the initiative and urged the participants to take the advantage of the clinic to learn the basic skills of triathlon.
He noted that the sport, which combines swimming, biking and running, is an endurance sport that the students must take advantage of. He advised the student to apply the stamina needed in triathlon in their education, noting that they need such skill to excel in life.
NTU President, Dr. Lanre Glover commended the participants and their games masters for their commitment in the sport and assured that the clinic would continue holding at different times.
